Hungry Cat Helps Gulf Fishermen Through Gator Beignets, Hurricanes, and Gumbo

Next Tuesday, July 27th, both Hollywood and Santa Barbara locations of The Hungry Cat will prepare a special day of Cajun dining, with a share of the day’s total sales going to Adopt-A-Fisherman, which provides financial assistance to the region’s out-of-work ocean laborers. David Lentz’s menu will incorporate classic recipes from the region, as well as favorite New Orleans and house cocktails like hurricanes, Vieux Carrés, and Creole juleps. So, what’s to eat?

The Gulf Benefit menu finds a full raw bar available, complete with head-on shrimp and crawfish, as well as whimsical alligator beignets, oysters en brochette, trout amandine, soft shell crab po’boys, and a shrimp, crab, and andouille gumbo, to name a few dishes, with various side dishes like succotash, grits, and fried green tomatoes. The meal will be a view into the edible bounty of Gulf Coast culture and Cajun cuisine, some ingredients for which, we sadly stand to see less of as the oil damage spreads. See the full menu for Hungry Cat’s dinners below and make reservations for Hollywood at 323-462-2155 and Santa Barbara at 805-884-4701.
