Elizabeth Blau Tapped to Run the Rainbow Room

Let’s remember, Tavern on the Green isn’t the only New York institution looking for a new operator. Gael Greene reports that Tishman-Speyer, which has spent a year trying to find a tenant for the Rainbow Room (vacated by the Ciprianis last August), has hired Elizabeth Blau, a Sirio Maccioni protégé who has built casino dining programs in Vegas. She’ll replace Barry Wine, but it’s uncertain whether she’ll continue Wine’s quest to find a tenant. Greene writes that Tishman-Speyer “has apparently decided to operate a dining venture itself,” meaning the Rainbow Room will presumably be Blau’s show.
