Bauer Weighs In About Healthy SF Surcharges, Cranky Commenters Go Nuts

Michael Bauer’s hope for spurring a “productive discussion” via his blog post today about the continuing appearance of those Healthy SF surcharges devolved into a bit of Tea Party ranting from some of his always entertaining commenter pool. As you’ll recall, Kauffman brought up his annoyance with the surcharges back in May, arguing that this was a sort of political statement by restaurateurs that should go away and be discreetly rolled into the menu pricing. Bauer now agrees, noticing that several new places like Comstock Saloon are classy enough to leave it off, but all his commenters seem to want to talk about is how the city has become a socialist “toilet,” and how they’d rather stay in Redwood City, or similar.
