“Maybe it was the Brittany puppy walking by as I was seated at the bar,” Bauer writes of Oakland’s Encuentro, “but for whatever reason I fell for [the place] on my first visit.” Despite this “falling,” Bauer only rewards Eric Tucker (Millennium), Linda Braz, and Lacey Sher’s vegetarian eatery some two-star love. He recommends the vegetable pot pie, radish bruschetta, empanadas, and the portobello mushroom sandwich; but he could do without the icky-vegan-sounding mushroom-pecan paté. [Chron]
