L.A. will get another corporate steakhouse chain on July 26th when The Capital Grille opens its first California location on the northwest corner of Beverly Center. A press release points us to the restaurant’s 41 locations spread across the states, mentioning that Capital is famous for its hand-carved steaks dry-aged on site (like Nick and Stef’s), seafood, and extensive wine service. Overseeing its porcini-rubbed Delmonicos, lobster mac and cheese, hot cherry pepper calamari, and Kona-crusted dry aged sirloins will be exec chef Dana Dare (formerly of Magpie’s in Pasadena and Hollywood’s House of Blues), while sommelier George Miliotes in charge of a 500-strong wine list and 5,000 bottles stored in a floor-to-ceiling “wine kiosk.” And the space?

Capital Grille will be decked-out in manly mahogany panels, with two bars, an upstairs dining room, and outdoor patio space with Hollywood Hills views. Not unlike like The Palm, portraits are displayed, this time of prominent Californians like, oh, who knows, maybe Cal Worthington and his dog spot.

Another carbon-copied steakhouse “grille” concept at first sounds redundant for this neighborhood, but considering how quickly the Houston’s crew nabbed that AIA design award for South Beverly Grill after only opening around here in April, it’s got to be worth this chain’s time to dip its toes into Pacific waters.

Capital Grill opens July 26th at 8614 Beverly Blvd. Beverly Hills.
