Community Board 3 begrudgingly approved a proposed small-plates restaurant on the Bowery called SRO last night, but was not pleased that the team behind Alta plans to open their place on the ground floor of an actual single-room occupancy hotel. (The folks at Crash Mansion have similar bad taste and wanted to use the SRO moniker for an upcoming BLVD re-branding.) In less socioeconomically tone-deaf restaurant news, the CB3 meeting also granted approval to the Highlands team to open a Scottish brasserie called Mary Queen of Scots in the space at 115 Allen Street that formerly housed Allen & Delancey.
