Though the predicted waves of Wagner-mania that were due to hit our streets appear to be more of a splash, Joachim Splichal could have a hit on his hands with a new pop-up Bavarian biergarten created to accompany performances of the composer’s Ring Cycle at L.A. Opera. Huffington Post points us towards Music Center Plaza where every night before and after the performances, Splichal is preparing German brat and Polish sausages supplied by Alpine Village to go with steins of dark and lager Hofbrauhaus. So far, the outdoor feast has been popular and, as it’s open to the public both with or without opera tickets, is rumored to possibly outlast the Ring Festival in the end by sticking around the neighborhood after the series ends. So, if you’re worried that following Jonathan Gold to First & Hope is going to break Brunhilde’s spell, you might want to stick around for a few brews and brats yourself.
