Sebo Sushi Loses a White Guy

Tattooed sushi chef Danny Dunham has departed from Hayes Valley sushi staple Sebo, as Tablehopper reports, and in his place co-owner Michael Black hired a new Japanese sushi chef to share duties, Nao Hashimoto. Chef Hashimoto has over twelve years experience cutting the fish, and comes north from Sushi Ota in San Diego.

Also of note, Black has a new distributor and is offering a wider range of fish on the menu at Sebo, including some fresh Hokkaido uni.

No word yet on where Dunham is headed.

Below, please see Anthony Bourdain’s visit last fall to Sebo, where he admits to being a “reverse sushi discriminator” when it comes to having his sushi prepared by a half-Japanese guy (Black) and a dude from New Jersey (Dunham).
