San Francisco Gets Its Own Pisco

Jon Bonné reports on the launch, just last week, of Campo de Encanto pisco, a new spirit brand from Cantina proprietor Duggan McDonnell and Peruvian partner Carlos Romero. The idea was to make a top-shelf version of this quintessentially Barbary Coast liquor, blending several grape varieties to make something “somewhere in between” gin, rum and eau-de-vie. As you may already know, pisco’s presence in S.F. dates back to 1839, and pisco punch was invented here. [Chron]
