Philadelphia lands in the 20 spot on Travel + Leisure’s list of “America’s Best Cities for Summer Travel,” thanks in no small part to our plentiful farmers markets. That slot doesn’t sound too high, but perk up at the thought of beating New York City, a summertime “snoozefest” that ranked 25th. The magazine weighed the number and quality of public parks heavily in its assessment, and Philly lost some ground for the lack of picnic spots. Los Angeles fared better at 14 with its beaches and parks. Temperate weather and abundant parks put Boston at 10. Chicago scored 8 on the list for its parks, and San Francisco’s cool breezes and easy access to the outdoors pushed it to seventh place. Portland, Oregon topped the list at number 1 for - yep, you guessed it - its parks. [Travel + Leisure]
