After hearing about plans for Commonwealth, Mission Street Food’s upcoming full-time restaurant in the former El Herradero spot, our first thought was, “Oh no. Poor Lung Shan will go back to being sad and empty all the time.” But alas, as Eater reports, Anthony Myint announced this morning that he and Danny Bowein are launching Mission Chinese Food out of the space on July 5.
The concept is “Americanized Oriental food,” and the menu will be available seven days a week, eat-in, takeout, or delivery. “Dishes will be priced in the $7-$10 range,” says Myint, “and we’ll send $0.75 from each dish to the San Francisco Food Bank.”
So will Lung Shan be changing its name? Or will the two menus live side by side? We remain curious.
From the sounds of it, we won’t be seeing Commonwealth open until August.
