Team Thomas Keller gives us a holler to announce that Bouchon is adding brunch and new seasonal bistro menus this weekend. Bar Bouchon will simultaneously launch different lunch and dinner menus for the summer. Served on Saturdays and Sundays from 10:30 A.M. to 2:30 P.M., the restaurant tells us via press release to expect breakfast foods next to “French country fare” with house-made patisseries and viennoisseries over brunch. Menus are yet to be released, but confirmed appearances are coming from boudin blanc teamed with scrambled eggs, braised short rib hash with piquillo peppers, and a forest mushroom omelet. House-made pain au chocolate will follow. And the burgers?
Those will be on new seasonal menus which give us a little of a French Laundry vibe with their imaginative use of fresh California product. The changing menus will include recipes like grilled octopus and a summer pole bean salad with jingle bell peppers and saffron aioli and a Kurobuta pork loin with peaches, Tokyo turnips, and whole grain mustard spätzle. Every Thursday through Saturday after 9:00 P.M., Bouchon will roll out burgers made from a combo of chuck, sirloin, and brisket paired with the pommes frites, that Los Angeles magazine recently called the city’s “best fries,” though we object.
Over at Bar Bouchon, the raw bar, charcuterie, cheese, bar snacks, and dessert will be teamed with new lunch and dinner menus, also starting this Saturday. Lunch will find grilled cheese with tomato soup, bibb lettuce lemon chicken salad with fine herbs, and house-made baked goods, while dinner will incorporate braised fennel Nicoise with lemon confit, steak tartare, and escargots de Bourgogne. Since one doesn’t need reservations here, these bistro selections might be your best bet to eat at Bouchon on a short-notice.
