We all know Paul Kahan likes his unappreciated rock and roll, whether it’s hosting jam sessions with members of Wilco, or naming his taco joint after an underrated pop rock legends Big Star. So we weren’t too surprised to see Kahan post an odd tweet yesterday about another indie rock band, Yo La Tengo: “Yo la publican sat b4 yo la 11th dday sunday at hideout.” Though a bit garbled, the tweet hinted at a possible show, which wasn’t actually on the schedule. Turns out Yo La Tengo were touring under a fake band name called the Condo Fucks, which only the faithful fans would recognize. Essentially, a small show became semi-blown. The AV Club was not happy: “Kahan masterfully raised and dashed the hopes of fans scrambling to get a reservation for this weekend to see them play.” Come on kids. [AVClub]
