Night Moves: Sevigny and Khan Join Don Hill’s; La Esquina’s Lochin Returns

Fun news from Steve Lewis today: Despite much speculation that Paul Sevigny’s planned music club might happen in the ACME Underground space, Sevigny and Nur Khan are teaming up with Don Hill to operate his eponymous music club. It’s the sort of gritty but dance-friendly space that’s perfect for the team, though it sounds like they plan to strip away at least some of the grit. “We’re adding 5 bathrooms and seating, we’re going to fix it up,” says Sevigny, who presumably knows the venue well as a member of the noise-rock outfit A.R.E. Weapons. The bathrooms alone will be an epic undertaking.

Though Don Hill’s (now approaching its third decade of existence) enjoyed a revival back when the MisShapes threw parties there a few years ago, it has lately fallen off the scene. We’re looking forward to seeing whether Nur can give his old home Sway (around the corner) a run for its money.

Lewis also reports that Cordell Lochin of La Esquina is back from the prison stint that sidelined him back in 2007.
