Goodbye Stix, Hello Again Zocalo

Photo: Zocalo

Zocalo will reopen soon in the space currently housing Stix. The new Zocalo will offer the same authentic Mexican as the old restaurant, which closed this winter to make room for Chez Jacky, but the design will be more upscale, owner Ricardo Ramos tells us. Zocalo’s new location will have room for private dining, as well as 45 seats in the main dining room and a 40 seat patio. Ramos hopes to open Zocalo in the first week of June.

Stix is, as of this writing and thus, just a few weeks before Zocalo plans to open in its space, still open. Owner Greg Den Herder did not return calls for comment, but of note: Stix is slated to appear in front of the Boston Licensing Board on Wednesday to petition for a change in license, an important step in passing their license off to another restaurant.
