Nearly three years after opening the original Hillhurst location, The Best Fish Taco in Ensenada debuts a follow-up in northeast L.A. The Glendale News-Press alerts us to an opening last week on the city’s Glenoaks, before laying out the owner ‘s strategy to become a popular chain with “six more stores and four taco stands throughout Los Angeles in the coming months.” How’s that happening?

Jospeh Cordova isn’t shy in claiming “What I did was bring what the real, legitimate criteria for a Baja-style fish taco” with his three-item menu of shrimp and fish tacos, with drinks. What isn’t real and is arguably less legit is the “Father Cordova” character he’s cooked up to tell tall tales about the restaurant’s fake founder who fought at Normandy and paddled to Hawaii. Ai! It is pretty rough out there, so whatever it takes. Just don’t say we never warned you that the restaurant waters seem to be getting crowded with ever-expanding Chipotles, Pinches, and the so-called “Best” of Ensenada. In any case, check out its website for a free taco so you can judge the superlatives for yourself.

Now open at 604 W. Glenoaks Blvd. Glendale
