Not to steal the one-year-old Ace’s thunder or anything, but its flatiron neighbor, the forthcoming Gansevoort Park Avenue, has released a rendering of its rooftop pool lounge (or, at least, a rendering of one of the three levels planned). When it opens in July, says the press release, it’ll boast “wrap-around terraces, event spaces, transparent floors showcasing views below, indoor-outdoor fireplaces, and striking views of the Empire State Building.” Oh boy. The lounge (named Plunge, in keeping with its meatpacking sister) will have “a 40-ft heated indoor-outdoor glass-enclosed, swimming pool,” and the bar menu will include a lobster roll, Kobe sliders (but of course), and a P.B. & Jelly Ice Cream Sandwich. Is this what Mike Ackenbaum meant when he said the operation would be “incredibly high-end”?
