Homaro Cantu is no stranger to the unusual. At his restaurant Moto, he’s known for his edible menus, developing strange new machines, and making Anthony Bourdain eat something that looked an awful lot like roadkill. So it’s not surprising that Cantu would be interested in playing around miracle fruit (honestly its name), which heighten your sense of sweetness. What is surprising is that Cantu would use this power for good. He’s crafting a whole menu for a charity event with mberry for cancer patients who have trouble sensing sweetness. The first video appeared on The Disruptive Food website today.

In the video he make a lemon soda with nothing more than lemon juice and soda water. But when you eat a miracle fruit at the same time, the drink suddenly tastes like a sweet lemon soda. Not exactly the craziest thing we’ve watched him do, but more videos are in the works and it’s all for a good cause.
