Deep within the 100-year-old Crescent Hotel (417 Stockton Street), on the third floor in what was once the lobby, Bourbon & Branch/Clock Bar veteran Kevin Diedrich just opened The Burritt Room. The place made its premiere last night, serving a tight list of eighteen cocktails, some seasonal, some classic, which Diedrich hopes is “approachable to our guests” and won’t “overwhelm.”

As SFoodie tells us, The Burritt Room takes its name from the alley that was site of the hotel’s main entrance until the Stockton Street Tunnel was built — an alley that also figures as a murder scene in The Maltese Falcon.

The Burritt Room - Hotel Crescent - 417 Stockton (at Bush) - 415.400.0500 - open Sunday to Thursday 5 p.m.-midnight, Friday and Saturday 5 p.m.-1 a.m.
