Next Monday, Cecconi’s chef Andrea Cavaliere is joining with LACMA for a dinner both inspired by and paired with specific works of modern and contemporary art. Museum curators will present pieces by Warhol, Botero, Damien Hirst, Masson, Lundeberg. and SoCal’s own Laddie John Dill, while the chef prepares recipes reflecting their spirit. There will be roasted tomato, pepper, and cucumber soup with focaccia croutons for Warhol’s Campbell’s Soup I: Vegetable, 1968 and blood orange and taggiasca olives with Cavaliere’s impeccable grilled octopus in a riff on Botero’s Oranges. Fortunately, an entire shark or vivisected cow isn’t landing on your plate for Hirst’s edible analogy; his is just a simple “digestive.” We only hope formaldehyde doesn’t fit into that description. Cecconi’s full “Art Tastings” dinner menu is below, with $150 reservations extremely limited at 310-432-2000.
