Ryan Skeen denies rumors that he’s on his way out at 5 & Diamond just a month after opening it. He tells Grub Street, “I’m not leaving in any way, shape, or form,” and says, “We really love what’s going on up in Harlem.” While Skeen confirms earlier intel that he has been working on a consulting deal with Coffee Shop’s new Empire Diner project, he says that “over the weekend we came to a point that I decided to walk away from it.” So what’s next for 5 & Diamond, which has a new GM in place after the departure of Gwen Butler?
For one thing, there’s also a new chef de cuisine, David Santos, who put in time at Per Se and Bouley before coming becoming chef de cuisine at Red Bank’s Restaurant Nicholas. Add to that a new brunch menu and a $50 tasting menu, which you can see below.
