Ryan Scott Has Many Irons in the Fire

As with many Top Chef alumni, SF’s Ryan Scott has a bunch of projects in the works, including one that should be “rolling out” soon in San Francisco but which he declined to give too many details about. Since leaving his post at Mission Beach Café last year, he’s gotten a spokesman gig with veggie burgermeisters Morningstar Farms, and he tells Grub Street today that his catering company, Ryan Scott 2 Go, is doing a brisk business around the Bay Area.

“I’ve been learning a lot about negotiating this year,” Ryan says, and he’s still got his eye on a space in the ground floor of 101 California — something that we caught wind of back in December. Nothing has come to fruition on that deal yet, but should it work out, he says “it’ll be a grab-and-go concept” that will cater to the corporate lunch crowd.

He promises us some more news in the coming weeks, but you can also look for Ryan rejoining his pals and frenemies on the Top Chef Tour in Denver and San Francisco — and possibly in Portland and Seattle as well.
