Just in Time for Good Friday: Christ on a Cracker

Michael Procopio over at KQED’s food blog today offers up a lengthy tale of his Catholic childhood, as well as a description/recipe of an hors d’oeuvre he created for Good Friday snacking that he insists isn’t meant to be sacrilegious: Christ on a Cracker. It’s a simple combo of a cracker topped with a round of cheese for a head, olive pieces for eyes, and pastrami for the hair and beard. He goes on to revise the name as Crist on a Cracker, in honor of critic Judith Crist, for reasons we don’t quite understand.
