As we mentioned last week, Sampan is readying its new hidden courtyard for public consumption and part of the design includes graffiti murals on the walls. In fact, it’s going to be called Graffiti Bar and this Friday, April 9. starting at 11:30 a.m., you can go watch the graffiti murals as they are created.

Graffiti artists A Lot, Rune and Distort will be in the back patio, creating their works of art throughout the day, which restaurant guests are invited to observe. From 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on the same day, Sampan will debut its new $2 happy hour menu, which includes various satays and other Asian-inflected snacks and will be served Monday through Friday at the same time. There will also be pitchers and imperial pints of craft beer available:

• Stoudt’s American Pale Ale ($18/$6)
• Flying Fish Farmhouse Summer Ale ($21/$7)
• Brooklyn Brewery Brewmaster’s Reserve Dark Matter ($24/$8)

We usually like to stick with the epic and deadly Scorpion Bowl, but pitchers are fine by us, too. Outdoor seating will be available on the sidewalk in front of the restaurant throughout the day.
