Fredericks Sees New Life As Italian Restaurant

Partners Jean DeNoyer and Hassan Elgarrahy are still waiting for a liquor license at their La Goulue space in midtown, but the duo isn’t idling in the meantime. They’ve just signed a lease at 768 Madison Avenue — the old Fredericks space — and plan to open an Italian restaurant there by late summer. “It will be less stuffy and more fun than the other places on Madison Avenue,” promises Elgarrahy, who spent years as general manager of Harry Cipriani before joining DeNoyer. “Our focus will be on creative light cuisine.” As for La Goulue: “We are still battling.”
