Epic Lines for Peanut-Butter Burgers and Lobster Rolls

The fledgling Hester Street Fair was, of course, mobbed on Saturday. We hear about 11,000 people showed up, and Luke Holden of Luke’s Lobster estimated that he sold about 500 lobster rolls (keep in mind, each roll contains the meat of a one-and-a-half-pound lobster). Mike Malbon went through his 60 pounds of pork by 5 p.m. Meanwhile, uptowners queued up for the bacon-and-peanut-butter burger at Shake Shack UWS.

The Westside Independent reported lines around the corner: “To put the craze in perspective, last week the shack sold 42 peanut butter and bacon burgers. By 7:45 p.m. this Saturday it had already sold more than 300, manager Mark Rosati told us.” A Hamburger Today has a close-up of the beast, but don’t torture yourself — the burger won’t be back on the menu anytime soon.
