What to Eat at Radius Café, Opening Next Week

Though some earlier reports suggested they might make it open by today, Grub Street has confirmed that new locavore haven, Radius (in the former Julie’s Supper Club space on Folsom), is waiting on one last inspection and is now shooting for next Thursday or Friday. Also, to clarify, only the café will be opening, with a separate entrance in the next-door space that used to be Julie’s dancefloor (at far right in photo). The place features original wood and some fixtures from 1908, and it will be serving a soup-and-sandwich menu from chef Kelly Hughett (see it in full below), as well as selling pantry items like pickling mix and fried chicken seasoning, and locally sourced beer and wine from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., and 1 a.m. on weekends.

“We’ve had to push the 100-mile radius thing a bit,” says Radius’ PR guy Jon Whitehead, “But all the ingredients, the beer, and the wine are all sourced locally.” The full restaurant, in Julie’s well-windowed corner room, should be open by early April at the latest.
