What to Eat at Curry Hill’s Latest Vegetarian-Indian Offering, Bhojan

The room in Curry Hill that at one point housed Saravana Bhavan Dosa Hut and Tamilnadu Bhavan has undergone yet another change, but is staying vegetarian. This week, Dhaba chef-owner Shiva Natarajan (also behind midtown east’s well regarded Chola and Tadka, as well as restaurants in Connecticut and Massachusetts) opened Bhojan, focusing on India’s Gujarat and Punjab regions. Like another Curry Hill newcomer, Bhatti Indian Grill, it offers Thalis (appetizer, entrée, condiments, bread, rice, and dessert) and more. The menu is below, but you should really get your hands on a hard copy, with its fascinating trivia about Indian marriage ceremonies (“the 13th of the 16 ceremonies in an Indian life”), and the country’s Jewish population (“hard to estimate since each Jewish community is distinct with different origins”).
