The hearts of many lovers of Hopleaf leaped with the prospect of owner Michael Roper’s expansion next door, into the space that formerly housed the restaurant La Donna. Back in July, we spoke with Roper about his plans for the space — charcuterie, a wood-burning grill, wine on tap — at which time he told us he thought the space would be built out and up and running by Christmas. Obviously that didn’t happen, and now Dish reports that Roper’s abandoned the idea of a non-Hopleaf project entirely, and instead plans to double the existing restaurant to 120 seats. No wine on tap, but the wood-fired grill is still a go. [Dish, third item]
