Food truck lots might be the future for many trendy vendors, but the city’s second attempt has failed to catch on, though it did survive more than a month longer than the one in Santa Monica. The Alameda Lot is closing for an inability to meet vendors’ needs, with one truck owner telling Midtown Lunch that the shutter was more of a “petering out.” Zach Brooks suggests rent costs and low eater attendance probably steered vendors away from this one. However, the organizers (called L.A. Food Truck Lots) have their sights set on Little Tokyo now, on Judge John Aiso Street, close to the Civic Center, which should see much better traffic. Expect the new Food Truck Lot in about two weeks if all goes to plan.
