Club Caliente Closes in SOMA; Radius Is Set to Open Friday

SOMA: Fifteen-year-old Club Caliente, the Latin heart of the 11th and Folsom club district, surrendered its liquor license last week. Also, the usually colorful and well-postered walls have been whitewashed, and the phone number is no longer in service. It looks like a shuttering to us. [Grub Street]
Also in SOMA: Medici Lounge, the Italian place at 9th and Folsom that opened beneath the Climate Theater in ‘08 but never really found an identity, is closed and up for sale. This was the restaurant in this blind item from January, but now the for-sale sign is out for everyone to see. This is now a pretty sorry intersection, with Schnitzel Haus also shuttered on the opposite corner. [Grub Street]

Still in SOMA: Radius, the new joint going into the former Julie’s Supper Club space that will be serving California cuisine sourced from within a 100-mile radius, is hoping to open this Friday. [Tablehopper]
Outer Richmond: Morph, the mysterious new place moving into the old Watami space which we first caught wind of a couple weeks back, is hoping to open next week with a Japanese-Thai fusion menu. According to their Facebook, they won’t be doing ramen like their predecessors, though. [SFoodie]
Yerba Buena: Ame has a new Executive Chef, and his name is Orlando Pagan. Most recently Pagan worked at Silks. [Tablehopper]
