Bauer Shows Some Three-Star Love for Baker & Banker; Patti U. Loves Her Some Pork at Bruno’s

• Michael Bauer comes around to Baker & Banker after every other reviewer in town and while he raves about the grilled calamari, the bacon-wrapped pork tenderloin, and the desserts, he doesn’t care so much for the grilled salad or the decibel level. Still, they get a solid three stars and a likely spot on the Top 100. [Chron]

• Good old, endearing Patti U. at the Examiner hits up Bruno’s, where she finds herself to be a big fan of the new Southern-inflected food menu by Boulevard/Broken Record alums Ryan Ostler and Katharine Zacher. She calls the pork and beans the “best rendition [she’s] ever tasted” and goes on to describe them thusly: “Served in a deep bowl, big creamy limas and defatted pork belly with a caramelized crust are united by a voluptuous sweet and sour sauce with overtones of cinnamon.” [Examiner]
