Filling the grapey void left by recently-departed NoMI sommelier Fernando Beteta is the restaurant’s former assistant sommelier Amy Payne, reports Tasting Table Chicago. Based entirely on her skills as a wine pro (“The Bordeaux area needs some emphasizing,” she told The Stew. “We only have higher end bottling, not many in the mid-range.“), we hereby appoint her to the position of treasurer in the Chicago Hottie Sommelier Club, which we have just invented. She serves alongside LEYE doyenne Alpana Singh (president) and L2O’s Chantelle Pabros (vice president and secretary). [TTC; The Stew]

Update: No she’s not. Payne is still the assistant sommelier, as NoMI has not yet named someone to the senior position. We will allow her to retain her role in the CHSC, however.
