Look Who's Popping Up

Another pop-up is rearing its head, this time in a monthly bar and mixology demo run by Névé Luxury Ice founder Michel Dozois. This iceman cometh with bar talent from across the country to lend a hand making drinks, while he promises to pop up anywhere from fine restaurants and Hollywood Hills homes to local artist’s studios and taco trucks. We’re not sure all those trucks will appreciate the attention that a curb-side liquor program could bring, but those striving to build a better cocktail might be tickled by planned events like “Cocktail Preparation and Instruction” or movie nights and social meet and greets.

The floating bar is a showcase for Dozois’ luxury Névé ice, which a press release claims will “forever change the cocktail as you know it” through its use of purified water and a slower melting rate. We hear a lot of game-changing cocktail claims these days as supper clubs still sprout, but to put it to the test, one must find Dozois’ event announcements on local blogs and RSVP, as these events’ limited lists encourage more face-time with booze-peddling pros. The first “Night with Neve” happens at the charcuterie bar in Pasadena’s Bar Celona, where small bites will be paired with each libation. Hopeful guests are encouraged to reply via email to attend the February 25th debut.
