Debuting Friday in Oakland’s increasingly food-centric Temescal district is SR24 (5179 Telegraph), a new venture from former South chef Josh Woodall named for the section of freeway that cuts through the neighborhood, State Route 24. Woodall’s menu is heavy on classic American fare (think fried chicken, pot roast, shepherd’s pie) with small fish plates, pizzas, and pastas thrown in, all with a sustainable focus. They will be open for lunch and dinner, in addition to offering a happy hour menu from 3 to 6 p.m. daily with recession-friendly pricing like $5 for spicy steamed clams, $2 PBRs and $5 glasses of wine.

See the menu, happy hour menu, and wine list below.
