Fire-Damaged Original Joe’s Will Live Again By Virtue of a City Grant

As part of the “Uptown Tenderloin” and Mid-Market revitalization efforts by the Mayor’s Office — which are also helping the Warfield Building along in bringing in that new restaurant by the Foreign Cinema folksOriginal Joe’s scored a $50,000 grant in order to renovate their signage and demolish the interior that was damaged in a 2007 fire. The landmark restaurant opened on Taylor Street in 1937, and longtime owners the Duggan family hope to have it back in business by fall.
