Datebook Yanks a Bad Bauer Review, Bauer Publishes the Worst Parts on His Blog Anyway

Michael Bauer had some terrible service on a busy weekend at Nick’s Cove up by Point Reyes, and penned a scathing review of the place and its inflated, tourist-destination prices. Perhaps catching wind of said review before it went to press, Nick’s Cove completely changed their menu this week, and the Chron decided to pull the review and let Michael revisit the place in a few months. Not to be silenced in his great annoyance for the treatment he received, Michael decides today to publish the most damning parts of his review on his blog.

To wit:

We could have waited until Memorial Day for any attention from the staff, whether it was to pour wine, clear plates or check to see if everything was OK… About 10 minutes later our waiter appeared. “Your main courses have been fired,” he said in a mock friendly tone that couldn’t hide his annoyance. “You’re lucky. I had to tell the table over there that they’d have an hour wait for their appetizers.”

He may have begrudgingly agreed to revisit the restaurant later and pen another review of their revamped menu (which is heavier on cheaper, smaller plates), but Mr. Bauer tosses in one last jab, just in case they’re listening. “Because the Top 100 comes out April 4, you won’t see Nick’s Cove on the list this year.”
