An Urban Farm Is Coming to the Fell & Laguna Off-Ramp

Photo: SF Streets Blog

In a swell bit of reclamation-of-urban-blight news, the off-ramp at Laguna and Fell Streets is being converted, as we type, into a new urban farm. The Hayes Valley Farm got a $50,000 grant from Gavin Newsom’s economic development office, and they expect to be working the farm for two to five years, depending on the economy. The little piece of unattached concrete has stood lonely and unused since the Fell Street exit was disassembled a few years ago, and until the city’s chosen developer for the property can secure their funding, it will be home to heirloom tomatoes and squashes.
