Alex Ureña Will Not Be Chef de Cuisine at R2L, Will Be Chef at Devil’s Den

While we were enjoying our three-day weekend, it seems that Alex Ureña, the New York chef who moved to Philly to take the chef de cuisine position at Daniel Stern’s R2L, jumped ship and landed at South Philly tavern Devil’s Den, according to Meal Ticket. What’s still unclear: why Ureña left R2L so abruptly (the restaurant opens this Thursday, see photos of it here). Update: The KleInsider spoke with Ureña, who says he left because it “wasn’t the right fit” for him. Devil’s Den’s Facebook page says of what Ureña will do with the menu: “It will take him a little time to get everything the way he wants it, but look for little changes starting with the happy hour tapas menu.”
