It sounds like the Santa Monica food truck lot, squashed within 24 hours for zoning violations, isn’t returning anytime soon. Today we learned that UCLA has picked up some of the slack and started its own food truck program after shutting down its BombShelter restaurant to make room for a massive new student center. The Bruin’s hibernation headquarters is welcoming two trucks onto campus each day, with a total of eighteen over the course of the month, Nom Nom Truck’s Misa Chien tell us, adding that it has been a welcome, affordable option for students and provided excellent exposure to an ideal demo for the trucks. The trucks are coming each day for lunch at The Court of Sciences, north of the construction site.
