Tropical Twofer: Oaxacan and Polynesian Spots Will Open on Park Avenue

A couple of tropical developments on Park Avenue today, one Oaxacan and one Polynesian. First, the latest newcomer in the Chipotle-Qdoba–Baja Fresh sphere, Oaxaca Mexican Grill (opening soon at 245 Park and 47th Street), sends over its menu. The budding chain is trumpeting a focus on “naturally raised meats” and recycled building materials. Farther south, Diner’s Journal brings news that the team behind Park Avenue Winter plans to open a “decisively inauthentic” Polynesian spot — the latest evidence of a tiki trend: “Hurricane Club, a 250-seat restaurant, will be located at 360 Park Avenue South (26th Street), where Porcao used to be. AvroKO will design it. Do they do thatched roofs?”
