We mentioned a couple weeks ago that George Chen had his eye on a space at 101 California, and that this new project (tentatively called DragonEye) might mean the end of Shanghai 1930. But as Eater’s quick to note today, that may just have been some clever face-saving, and the real reason for the closure is most likely financial. The high-profile location on Steuart Street, near the Hotel Vitale, will likely get snapped up soon enough.
