This really has been a good few months for Art Smith: he did darn well on Top Chef: Masters, landed a TV show on TLC, released a charity cookbook, and lost 80 pounds. What better way to top it off than induction into the Chicago Chefs Hall of Fame, part of the Chicago Culinary Museum, which is an organization that as far as we can tell exists solely to announce an annual inductee and then throw them a big party (not that we have a problem with that).

Smith’s formal induction will take place in September, at which time we imagine previous inductees Charlie Trotter, Jimmy Bannos, Rick Bayless, and Carrie Nahabedian will throw a sack over his head, spirit him away from the party to the secret Hall of Fame headquarters, and induct him into the culinary fraternity with arcane rituals and rites unspeakable. And probably lots of pork! [Inbox]

Earlier: Carrie Nahabedian is the 2009 Chicago Chefs Hall of Fame Inductee
