Prose Isn’t Going Anywhere Just Yet

Arlington’s Prose isn’t closing, despite rumors on Chowhound and Boston Restaurant Talk pegging New Year’s Eve as the restaurant’s last day in business. Owner Debbie Shore tells us that, while she initially planned not to renew the restaurant’s wine and beer license for 2010 due to financial concerns, two “very generous” customers contributed enough money to purchase next year’s licenses just this morning.

And so Prose will be able to stay open into the new year but as for how long, well, that depends on the customers. Says Shore, “I still don’t know what’s going to happen, since this is obviously a Band-Aid. It’s possible I might still sell. Frankly, I could live better and have more money working a part-time job for someone else, rather than working for myself.” Shore says she’s also exploring the possibility of transitioning Prose into more of a cafe and adding daytime hours. The moral of the story? If you don’t want to lose Prose, now’s the time to visit.
