We’d normally consider Ketel One’s new branded food trucks a huge nail in the coffin for the street-food craze, until we caught the words “free food.” Starting today in Manhattan, the vodka maker is touring its Ketel One Canteen through New York, Chicago, and L.A. on three-day jaunts, staffed by chefs Michael Psilakis, Rick Bayless, and Ilan Hall respectively. The toques have prepared their own menus and Ketel One is providing water and rides home, though we find no promises of the free alcohol that would necessitate hydration or a chauffeur. The truck debuts in New York’s Meatpacking District today through December 5th, Chicago on the 10th, and L.A. on the 12th. Psilakis sticks with Greek food and Bayless with Mexican, and Ilan Hall will confront his Scottish-Israeli identity crisis. Epicurious has the full menus.
