The Other Magazines

Gourmet May Be Dead, But Penn Appetit Lives On

Making fun of Penn kids is a popular sport ‘round these parts, but we have to hand it to them, they put together a nice-looking food magazine, the latest issue of which just came out today and is available in PDF form online. Penn Appetit, which bills itself as “UPenn’s premiere food magazine,” has an interview with our favorite schmaltz-eater chef Mike Solomonov, a meat-y think piece on becoming a carnivore and a review of a meal at New York’s Per Se which was “full of miracles” like filtered and carbonated tap water. They also have a blog, where you can read Top Chef recaps and learn how to make fettucine alfredo with truffles, in case any students were wondering what to do with all those pesky truffles rolling around at the bottom of their fridge.
