Create a Restaurant-Magazine Hybrid

Inspired by the notion of a Rolling Stone–branded restaurant, Slate pitches business models for other magazine-based eateries. Chez Cosmo “is known for tasting menus like ‘76 Hot Dishes You Need To Eat Now.’” The Huffington Post Food Palace has a 47-page menu, “most of which are sourced from other, better restaurants.” (Snap.) Esquire brewhouse is dismissed as a tired business model: “Although the menu often changes — the most recent version features a hologram of Neil Patrick Harris — the food itself rarely does.” Expect more media digs soon; Slate invited readers to contribute their own ideas.
