Butter Lane, the East Village cupcakery, opened a temporary store Saturday in SoHo that is only open through December. The store carries its signature cupcakes as well as Stumptown coffee, so you can get a coffee fix without having to go uptown to the Ace Hotel. There is no baking on site the day’s cupcakes are brought over from the permanent East Village location and the variety of offerings changes daily. The store just celebrated its one-year anniversary in November and though manager Jaclyn Bloch says there are tenuous plans to expand, so far Butter Lane has had only temporary spots in Madison Park and a cart on the High Line. “Maybe we’ll be popping up all over the city,” Bloch said.
Butter Lane, 436 W. Broadway, nr. Prince St.; no phone. Open daily 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
