Butter Lane, the East Village cupcakery, opened a temporary store Saturday in SoHo that is only open through December. The store carries its signature cupcakes as well as Stumptown coffee, so you can get a coffee fix without having to go uptown to the Ace Hotel. There is no baking on site — the day’s cupcakes are brought over from the permanent East Village location — and the variety of offerings changes daily. The store just celebrated its one-year anniversary in November and though manager Jaclyn Bloch says there are tenuous plans to expand, so far Butter Lane has had only temporary spots in Madison Park and a cart on the High Line. “Maybe we’ll be popping up all over the city,” Bloch said.

Butter Lane, 436 W. Broadway, nr. Prince St.; no phone. Open daily 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
