It’s been some year for Alice Waters — she was awarded the Legion of Honor, she went head-to-head with her nemesis Anthony Bourdain, and she was beamed into the homes of millions of Americans in her profile on 60 Minutes. What better way to cap the year than with a three-book deal? Publisher’s Marketplace reports that longtime Waters publishing house Clarkson Potter has signed on to release a 40th anniversary celebration of Chez Panisse entitled Classic Chez Panisse, scheduled to land in bookstores in 2011. Also forthcoming: a how-to followup to Waters’$2 2007 cookbook The Art of Simple Food, as well as and an as yet untitled personal narrative — could this be Alice’s side of the no-holds-barred Chez Panisse drugs-and-sex adventures that Thomas McNamee wrote about in his biography Alice Waters and Chez Panisse? Probably not, but we can always dream.
