Re-openings

Winter Shifts Our Obsessions to Three Re-Openings

If you don’t know by now, Bouchon opens today to fulfill many a first-class fancy. So now what? Our obsessions have shifted to three anticipated re-openings flitting about the smoggy horizon. LudoBites is coming back for a short stint in December, this time at Royal-T. There will be a private preview party of the exhibit “In Bed Together” this Friday evening that will be catered by chef Ludo, so cozy up to someone with an invite or prepare your own charm offensive for buttering up the door people to taste a preview of what Ludo plans this time around.

Elsewhere, Squid Ink tells us that Bastide’s rebirth is slated for December 1st, an opportunity to finally see what the deal is with their partnership with Assouline Books. The site provides a short clip of owner Joe Phtyka directing a commercial and looking quite like Klaus Kinski’s younger, harder-rocking brother.

While Eva, the restaurant that took over Hatfield’s space, earned raves from S. Irene Virbila today, Hatfield’s fans are told to expect an opening on New Year’s Day. The Ink’s Amy Scattergood takes a look through her lens at the remodeled Red Pearl Kitchen space which is three times bigger than the old Hatfield’s and is ditching the Asian cheese theme for an off-white scheme, a “wall of herbs,” and a temperature-controlled wine room. No mention of a wall of Alexis Readinger’s fish scale tiles that we read about in Los Angeles. In any case, we look forward to welcoming all three back and naturally, following their exploits.
